Can my boyfriend sue for malpractice?

My boyfriend went to see a doctor that was considered to be an allergist. The doctor gave him an exam ( a COMPLETE exam, if you know what I mean.) My boyfriend felt a little weird and asked me if that was normal for an allergist to do that. This happened a few years back, so I don't really know what to do. Please don't give hateful answers, this is really serious.
