Why dooes Final Fantasy suck for consoles but is good on handhelds?

At least in my opinion. I can't stand them on consoles because there are too many cutscenes. Just like Metal Gear Solid. It feels more like a movie than a game. Yet on handhelds it works perfectly. I guess it's just a preference, but does anyone agree out there? Or is my voice doomed to echo in this empty cavern for eternity?
